- Calabrese o Nero d'Avola (min 60%), Sangiovese e/o Frappato e/o Perricone e/o Cabernet Sauvignon e/o Merlot e/o Syrah (max 40%), altre (max 10%)
- Colour:
- more or less intense ruby red
- Aroma:
- fruity, spicy, characteristic
- Taste:
- bone dry, harmonious, full-bodied
- Minimum alcohol content:
- 11.5%
- Aging:
- up to 3-4 years

- Novello (Fresh wine - 11%)
- Riserva:
- the Riserva must have min alcholic content of 12.0%; the Riserva must age for at least two years of which 6 months in oak barrels.
